WTF?

Okay it has been waaaaayyyyy to long since I last posted something. Lets just say that this is the root of the problem. I get fired up on something stick to for 5-6 weeks than get bored and revert back to my old ways. Anyways I am back on track and re energized to get back on the program. I did so well up until about march and than fell off the wagon and started eating crap again. This is my friendly reminder that I don't want to do that anymore, I truly want to change my lifestyle and this blog keeps me sane and accountable so this week is my reintroduction back into being healthy. I will post weights next week...stay tuned.

Day 21:Jan 22, 215.4

Another week in the books! Sorry it has been a while since my last post but this week has been hectic with trade shows and marketing meetings. The one thing that stayed constant was my weight loss. I am now down over 13 pounds in just three weeks. I am feeling great and have so much more energy it is unreal. My pants are looser and shirts not as tight and my appetite has really gone down. I attribute most of it to my diet. I have been really good about watching carbs and loading up on mostly protein and it is really starting to pay off. The other thing that is helping are my portions. I used to come home from work and thought I was eating good by having three chicken breasts, huge salad and some sort of snack. Now I make my big meal lunch which is usually a salad or veggies and throw in a small snack of beef jerky (this is my go to) Dinner is much lighter and sometimes I am not even that hungry so I will just go with a protein shake. I have a cheat meal once a week and last week was worth it as we went to Mastros with some friends and did it up (gotta live a little)
Next week will be interesting in that I am traveling all week. Vegas early in the week and Orlando towards the end of the week and weekend. Playing some golf and working out to stay active but usually these things entail big dinners out and lots of booze. I will try to watch my food intake but the drinks worry me as I tend to like doing that from time to time (ha)

Day 12:Jan 13, 219

Sorry it has been afew days since my last post but work has been keeping me busy albeit a little stressful but busy. In the past when it got busy and stressful my first instinct was to eat something that made me feel better and tell myself "Today is rough, I will diet tomorrow" I am proud to report however that I have been sticking to my diet and eating clean as my trainer likes to say. I have been on  a protein kick, trying to eliminate all sugars and simple carbs and it has been going well. I am sticking to protein shakes for breakfast, a small lunch of veggies or chicken, beef jerky to snack on and a small dinner usually a salad and chicken or something along those lines. To be honest my biggest fear would be that I would be starving all the time and it has been quite the opposite. I used to not eat all day and then come home and lay into a big dinner but now with smaller meals throughout the day I feel much fuller and not as guilty by the end of the day. I guess all those People magazines laying around the house that Alli gets are telling the truth when it comes to weight loss. Although the pounds haven't been coming off as quickly this week I still know that I am losing inches and weight. Workouts have been really good this week and I can tell I have more energy at the gym which pushes me even more. So far so good!

Day Seven: Jan 8, 219.5

Wow, I came downstairs this morning and told Allie that I think the scale is broken. She laughed and said "give yourself a little credit" If I go off what the scale is telling me (and I am)  I have lost 9 pounds this week! Now I know some of this is superficial weight but I worked my ass off these past seven days so I know some of it is true pounds being shed. To  be honest I really didn't ramp up my workouts anymore than I normally do except I added a day of weights which is good because the older I get the more my knees hate me. No, it wasn't workouts it was all my diet. I told myself everyday before I started this "you are what you eat" and man this is true. After only one week I feel better inside and out, I can think clearer, I am not as moody, and I just feel lighter inside. It is like a brick has been taken off my chest and I don't plan on it coming back. I still have a long way to go but I figure if I keep setting goals every week and stick to them I will keep the course.
The second week always seems like the toughest because your body seems to hold onto all the fat that it loved so dearly so I am going to be realistic and not think that I will lose another 9 pounds. I picked up a book called the 17 day diet which a friend of mine said was good and was a really great way to kick start your metabolism into burn mode so I am going to give it a whirl this week and I will let you know how it worked out.
Hope you all have a great weekend!!!!!

Day Five: Jan 5, 222.5

Yeah! I stepped on the scale and was pleasantly surprised that I was down another two and half pounds since Monday. The first week is always the most drastic but it is still fun to see the numbers going down instead of up like they usually do.
Yesterday at work was pretty good eating wise. I started the A.M. with an apple and then veggie soup for lunch. Some beef jerky for snack and a small fillet for dinner with some turkey, carrots and cucumber. I was on the elliptical last night much to the chagrin of my wife when I got home from work as well.
This a.m. bright and early at the gym hitting weights. I need a good shoulder workout as this seems to be my weak spot. Any ideas?

Day Four:Jan 3rd, 225

So far so good. I have been a strict ass kicking machine for last three days and feel better already. I lost three pounds but I am sure most of it is water weight so now the real fun begins. I have been working out like a madman and trying to not be as sluggish around the house which helps make me feel more productive. Today is my first day back at work and that is usually the hardest area for me. We have reps bringing sweets and fatty lunch's in all the time which sucks because I tend to eat when I am stressed. However, I am going out of my way to avoid that stuff and brought in fruits and veggies to fill me up instead of coffee cake and burritos. I know, I know it is only the first day but I tend to be very dramatic when it comes to this stuff so I guess I will just roll with it.
Today my diet will be an apple for breakfast, veggies for lunch and a small fillet and spinach for dinner. Lots of water and a heavy workout tonight since I slept in today because I went to bed pretty late. Anyways that's it for now nothing to exciting but just trying to keep on keeping on....

Day Two: Jan 1st 2011

I work out alot. I usually am on my elliptical machine early in the morning or going to gym to life weights or do core work. I love to work out, I love it almost as much as I love to eat. I think this year I want to mix up my routine a little more and try some things out of my comfort level. My wife keeps suggesting running and while I am not opposed to that I just have never enjoyed running. Anyone that tells you they do is lying and if you are saying to yourself right now " but I do" come on. Maybe I am a total cynic but there is just something about pounding the pavement and sweating through your clothes while you nod at strangers who look as miserable as you do. I hope I am wrong because I plan on doing one day of running a week to at least get in the flow. I look ridiculous doing it but at this point I am open to anything. Alli has been doing some circuit training with lots of running and she has never looked better so the proof is in the pudding I guess.
As far as my other workouts I am going to a trainer twice a week who makes me do all the resistance stuff I hate doing on my own and then two days of lifting at the gym coupled with some days on the elliptical at home. My week looks something like this
Monday:Training
Tuesday:Gym
Wednesday:Elliptical
Thursday:Gym
Friday:Train
Saturday:Run/Elliptical
Sunday:Light walk or rest

I might mix and match but for the most part this is the schedule.

Last night was New Years Eve so Alli and I made a big meal and sent off 2010. I had a nice broiled Spencer steak drenched in oil (not as good broiled I need to stick to the grill) and she had lobster. We drank some champagne and had cupcakes for desert and just relaxed. Very low calorie I know but we splurged a little for the holiday. ( I wish I had a nickel for every time I said that the last month or so) It was really nice and needed change from the normal cluster of NYE where usually we end up hung over the next day.
So today is the day we get the eating in order and I have some good meals set up for the week that are high protein and low carb. This approach has always worked the best for me in the past as long as I cut down on the high fat stuff as well. Mostly chicken and veggies with a fillet one day and fish another.
Happy New Years everyone and I hope 2011 is a good one!!!!!!
